Abhi Dhar is the CIO for Walgreens. Prior to this role Dhar ran the consumer facing mobile channel for Walgreens and also was responsible for engineering/technology leadership in Walgreens' e-commerce division as chief technology officer (CTO). Under mobile, Dhar led an extremely rapidly growing and award winning product/services business which included mCommerce, digital payments, mobile wallet and digital coupons & rewards. For his technology role, he was responsible for end-to-end delivery, software development and, innovation of the eCommerce, omnichannel, digital marketing, social media and mobile technology platform along with the IT organizations executing these efforts. Dhar also led the due diligence leading up to the acquisition of Drugstore.com by Walgreens and subsequent integration of the companies. Previously, Dhar served as chief information officer (CIO) and senior vice president at TravelCLICK since 2006, where he built a global IT and product delivery organization by restructuring the team, recruiting top talent and optimizing vendor relationships. From 2001 to 2006, he held various top technology leadership roles with Cendant Corporation and its Travelport division. Dhar also worked in engineering & digital/online consulting capacities with PricewaterhouseCoopers and AT&T. Dhar earned an undergraduate degree in engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, Mysore University in India in 1993 and earned a master of science degree in engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1995.
